And Then The Winter Came.

New leaves shed by trees like winter coats
Why they do not cling to it I do not know
I do not know.

Other sides and views and winds press up and don’t die down
I am shedding, shaking, shivering
save my sluggish heart.

Leaves like trees that grew too old
My eyes do know, this story unfolds
I hate the end I know not to be
I loathe the lack of the part where you rescue me.

And then the winter came.
